Not so different after all

Now that Lucas is a year old I'm able look back and compare him with Isaac during his first year. I've always felt that although they were both boys they came out completely differently especially in personality. However when I went through my photos for this post I was shocked to see just how similar they look...

Second date with Jack Frost

After dragging my knackered self out of bed this morning I looked out of the window to find that Jack Frost come back for another go. No sore throat this time I raced out to take some more photos!! You know after feeding and dressing the kiddies...and drinking a cup of tea etc...

Guess what I saw? A freaking massive bird in our neighbours garden who was casually eyeing up the fish in the pond. I was pretty sure it was a Heron (hubby confirmed this later). Now Im not one for bird watching but this was impressive. Plus I thought my birding friend @KristaKay13 and my brother @blobbybirdman are going to wet themselves when they see this! Typically as it rose into the air in graceful flight I was looking the otherway. Oops...

One question people. Where the heck did the other leg go?!

Anyway back to frosty morning.

It wasn't long before I started getting fancy with some leaves...

Some more frosty flowers and leaves. I think it looks like some coated them with sugar. However I can confirm they are nowhere near as tasty...

Isaac was once again loving the frost.

Isaac: What's that mummy?

Me: That's ice.

Isaac: I kiss it!

I shouldn't have been surprised it wasn't the first time Isaac had licked the ice this morning...
Even though I had already confirmed it definitely doesn't taste like sugar!

Anyway I think its time for another one of these, I hear there's snow on the way tomorrow...

Deadly Engagement Story

Some of you may know that hubby is half Swiss so we go to Switzerland to stay at a family place on holiday from time to time. What you may not know is the story of how we got engaged....

When we went on this particular holiday I knew he was possibly going to pop the question for 3 reasons
1: We had been together for 5 years
2: I had pointed out the exact engagement ring I wanted several times
3: I found the ring in his bag (by accident of course...)
So I was all whoo hoo any day now...
So it turns out Tim had decided to propose up a mountain. Impressive right? What we both didnt realise was the extent to which I was scared of heights. He thought he had no reason to worry I'd hiked up some mountains before with no real problems. But they were little ones with nice big paths... So we took the shaky death box *ahem* I mean cable car up some of the way.

This particular route Tim assured me was easy. In fact he himself first walked it as a child when he was 8 years old. But early on I was thinking 'holy crap this is steep'. Not wanting to come across as a pathetic I kept my thoughts to myself (mostly). Didn't want him rethinking his proposal plans now did I? As we walked further the ground started to look all wobbly and twirly. I couldn't see straight. The route just got worse and worse until I sat down and couldn't get up again. Tim was baffled as to what was going on...

He tried reasoning with me. He tried shouting 'GET UP!' in a loud commanding voice which just made me cry more (proposal day was going so well huh?) so then he tried begging. He coaxed me a long a little further until we got to a cross where someone had died and I was done being on that mountain! Thinking about the route he said its possible it gets worse. (oh really!) He said he had a vague memory of his sister crawling across a bridge on her hands and knees. So even though it would take hours we would have to turn back....

After several hours we made it back to the cable car only to find out it had closed for the evening. Tim said no worries since it was summer we could walk down the ski routes.  He claimed they weren't steep at all. You know those things people ski down really really fast. THEY WERE BLOODY STEEP!

Of course at that point a thunder storm rolled in. Perfect!

Overall it took us 11 hours of walking and eventually we got back to the chalet! Needless to say Tim didn't get to propose that day. But we laugh about our adventure now.

The next evening he did propose on the balcony of the chalet and obviously I said yes...

2 is definitely more work than 1

I thought one baby was hard work and it was because I didn't know what the hell I was doing. But somehow you work it out, you find a way. Then just as they start sleeping through the night and you feel you've got this whole routine thing licked, your hormones give you a nice big kick in your Uterus! 'I know' you think 'lets have another baby!' So almost exactly a year after Isaac was born I was pregnant with Lucas.

New baby is coming. 'Its alright' I think 'I know what I'm doing now!' (smug mummy mode) Turns out that even though they are both boys, they pop out completely different. Who knew?! And guess what? There is now TWO of them. You need eyes in the back of your head!

One of the things I was worried about was how Isaac would react to his new baby brother. I needn't have worried though, he loved him right away. He was always really gentle...

That is until Lucas started crawling and could get to toys himself. After that Isaac was not so gentle any more! Seriously I cant leave them for a moment. Not even to pee as you all know!

For this reason I don't have many pictures of them playing together nicely. However this one day they did, I don't know if it was showing off for the camera or what, but it was great. Here's the photos from that magical unusual day...
"Hey you gotta taste this! It tastes nothing like any carrot I've ever tasted..."

"I'm the big brother around here so as long as you do as your told you'll do okay..."

"Up to something? Us? nooooo..."

"You distract her while I make a break for the chocolate biscuits..."

Jack Frost booty call

This morning I woke up with a sore throat so the plan was to do very little (and try to gain as much sympathy as possible *cough cough*). However after opening the curtains I saw that Jack Frost had paid a visit over night! I couldn't resist going out wrapped up like an Egyptian mummy to take some photos...

Was excited to find this little dude, mainly because I knew my brother @blobbybirdman would be pleased that I actually took a picture of a bird for once.

Couldn't take photos without my trusty little sidekick who was like 'WOW its fosdy!' (Toddler translation: Frosty)

Hope you like them especially as I was on deaths door when I took them...
...*ahem* sympathy please ; )
